Y: The Last Man - Issue #1[]
Issue 1 begins with a woman running up to an unnamed policewoman crying that her boys are dying. The police officer informs the women that all the men are dead and then commits suicide.
The story flashes back twenty-nine minutes before "the plague", and introduces the reader to Yorick Brown, a New York resident and an unemployed escape artist with a literature degree, talking on the phone to his girlfriend Beth, who currently resides in the Australian Outback.
